Mark this past Sunday, October 13th, in your mind and your heart if you are praying for and rooting for the SWCC!
This past year our Board of Directors voted unanimously to focus our association of churches on the goal of planting churches. That decision was followed by a challenge from our Director that we would mobilize to plant or re-plant at least 30 churches by 2030. This challenge set in motion a series of concrete actions indicating that our churches were, in fact, embracing this Kingdom priority and moving towards the goal with a firm faith that God is leading.
More specifically, what we're trying to do is work together to plant or re-plant 30 healthy and reproducing churches. So, any time that one of our churches is led by God to plant a church in partnership with the SWCC (wherever in the world that plant might be), the other churches will pray and help as much as they are able. In so doing, we all can celebrate together every exciting advance of this faith initiative.
That being said, church #1 of 30 has been launched and it is located in Nicaragua. The Church is Santuario La Paz Centro, and was planted by U.S. missionaries Wade & Shannon Cooperrider in partnership with Nicaraguan Pastor Jose' Dennis Lara, Desert Springs Church & the Southwest Church Connection.
Santuario La Paz Centro officially launched on Sunday, October 13th with a worship service that resulted in 5 decisions to follow Christ, 4 believer baptisms, a couple baby dedications and an attendance of 380 people!
If you are a part of this planting team, or supporting Desert Springs Church or the SWCC, welcome to the celebration happening in Central America, North America and Heaven!
